Care & Safety

Burning Instructions

Trim the wicks to 5mm above the wax surface before lighting. On the first burn, allow the candle to burn until the melt pool reaches the container's edge - usually 2-3 hours. For future burns, keep the duration similar, but never exceed 4 hours. This method ensures an even burn, prevents ‘tunnelling’, and maximises scent throw while avoiding overheating. You’ll notice the aromatherapy scents become more intense as the candle burns lower.

Before each use, trim cotton wicks and place the candle on a flat, fire-resistant surface. Wooden wicks can also be trimmed, though it's not always necessary. If the flame becomes too high or flickers persistently, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, and re-trim the wick. For safety, stop burning when less than 8mm of wax remains, and extinguish the candle if the vessel becomes too hot.

Candle Safety & Placement

To ensure safety, keep candles away from drafts, which can lead to uneven burning, excessive smoke, and dripping. Never leave a burning candle unattended or while sleeping, and always extinguish it before leaving the room.

Avoid touching a lit candle and keep it out of reach of children and pets to prevent accidents.

Ensure that candles are not placed near any flammable materials, such as wick trimmings or matches, and avoid positioning them on or near electrical items or TV stands. Keep candles away from furniture and loose drapery. When burning multiple candles, ensure they are positioned at a safe distance from each other. If there are small unavoidable drafts, turning the candles can help them burn more evenly.

Extinguishing Your Candle & Storage

The safest way to extinguish a candle and maintain its appearance is by using a snuffer. This method also helps prevent the wick from drifting off-center, which can extend burn time and enhance scent throw. After extinguishing, let the wax solidify before following the storage instructions.

Allow the wax to cool completely before moving the candle. As our candles are hand-poured with premium natural waxes and essential oils, they may develop frost or wet spots due to temperature fluctuations or during transit. Additionally, sweating can occur in warmer months, though it does not impact the candle's quality. Store candles upright in a dry location away from direct sunlight. Optimum temperature is approximately 22 degrees.

Protect the wax and preserve the scent by covering the candles with lids, a cloche, or a dust cover. To maintain the appearance of the vessel, gently clean any fingerprints or soot with a damp cloth.

By following these instructions you'll have a safe, even burning candle that we hope you enjoy.
